Fancy a slice of chocolate brownie with your breakfast, or a piece of mud cake first thing in the morning? For those of you who can stomach the idea of dessert upon waking, eating a sweet treat with your cereal could be the secret to weight loss, a new study suggests.\n\nResearchers from the Endocrine Society in the United States found that eating dessert with breakfast can help you keep extra weight off, as well as reduce cravings throughout the day.\n\nTo come to this conclusion, they studied two groups of men and women. Both groups were put on diets restricted to 1,600 calories for males and 1,400 calories for females.\n\nYet one of these sets were asked to eat an energy-packed breakfast high in protein and to add a sweet treat such as a cookie or cake to their toast or cereal.\n\nAs it turned out, although both groups lost weight, it was those who ate dessert in the morning that managed to keep the kilos off and even get slimmer after the study period concluded.\n\nThese findings suggest that indulging in something sweet early in the day is a good way to avoid cravings from developing in the afternoon or evening.\n\nLead researcher Daniela Jakubowicz said that curbing cravings is an important aspect of any weight loss scheme.\n\n"The goal of a weight loss diet should be not only weight reduction but also reduction of hunger and cravings, thus helping prevent weight regain," she explained.\n\nThere could be some truth in her words. Sometimes giving into small cravings every day is a better way to keep the kilos off than by binge eating or overindulging in one sitting.\n\nHowever, this is just one of many weight loss miracle solutions so it is important to take this study with a grain of salt.\n\nIf you do want to give it a try, then you could even make your breakfast sweet treats sugar free by using Stevia extract, a healthy natural sweetener that contains no aspartame.\n\nThis way you may even be able to give into those cravings without feeling guilty any time of the day, be it at sunrise or sunset.\n\n
